2003’s A Strangely Isolated Place, is arguably Schnauss’ most beloved album, and with good reason. This record’s ecstatic combination of synthetic pop tones, downtempo beats and ambient techniques is both hugely influential and highly distinctive. Many of the tracks here come off like ‘Fluffy Little Clouds’-era The Orb doing a dance with Nathan Fake, their rolling downtempo breakbeats feathered by these lovely chiming keyboard tones. A remastering job renders A Strangely Isolated Place’s shoegazey electronics in even more vivid colour.
