Wrangler’s new LP A Situation emerges relatively soon after band member Stephen Mallinder dropped his first solo album for several decades back in 2019. There is certainly something of that record - entitled Um Dada - to this new set from Wrangler, the group Mallinder forms alongside The Maths’ Ben Edwards and Tunng’s Phill Winter. This album brings together Um Dada’s quirky, robotic industrial synth-pop style with dystopian electronics to create a moody and foreboding listen. Think Battles, Plaid and Mouse On Mars.
