While John Tejada’s chunky tech-house and Reggie Watts’ zany beatbox-pop style may not seem like easy bedfellows at first glance, a union of the two artists makes sense if you take a second to think about it. They certainly bring out the best in each other on Don’t Let Get You Down, with Watts adding a playful melodiousness to Tejada’s productions while toning down the wackier elements of his practice. The resulting tracks have plenty of Theo Parrish, Channel Tres and Ross From Friends about them. Don’t Let Get You Down is out on Brainfeeder, another thing about this record which has a strange kind of logic to it.
