On Club Aura we find Significant Other presenting more of his atmospheric, dub-savvy take on modern bass music. ‘Little Blue Pills’ and ‘Mike’s Gone Back To Manchester’ both veer close to the pirate-techno aesthetic of Basic Rhythm, albeit with a little more of Ploy’s soundsystem stylings thrown into the mix. Club Aura’s title-tune shows that, in abstraction, Significant Other’s style can come close to the stranger end of Actress’ output, while closer ‘Drum Therapy’ indicates that there is also the potential for it to bloom into a kind of rave-ified take on hard-drum.
