On their new single ‘Acid’ rising duo Jockstrap come through with an unusual and striking take on contemporary pop. ‘Acid’ initially presents as cerebral and lovely - vocalist Georgia Ellery holds court atop Disney strings and chugging electric pianos. However, for all of the track’s jauntiness, you also get the sense that something malign might lurk beneath the surface. Imagine a blend of Actor-era St. Vincent, Super Furry Animals and Cate Le Bon at her most whimsical and you are not far from the sound that Jockstrap come up with here.
