Delroy Edwards, it would seem, knows which side his bread is buttered. He certainly gives the people what they want on his new L.I.E.S. LP Slap Happy. There’s nothing fancy here and no messing about, with Edwards delivering eight freaky Chicago-indebted house jacks to get even the most stubborn dancer moving. Some of the productions are relatively shiny - ‘Rock This Place’, for instance, features some lovely bright piano chords - while the likes of ‘Nitemare House’ front the same lo-fi style that Edwards came up with. Really, though, this is just a set of top-quality DJ tackle, pure and simple. Slam Slap Happy on the turntable and shake your body down to the ground.
