Boris new album rocks in a way that Boris haven't rocked before. They've come along way from their Earth like drone roots of ' absolute ego' and grown into a fully formed rock machine.
I mean rock in a good way, their new evolved sound channels the groovy analogue speed demon buzz of 70's Hawkwind and early Motorhead crossed with the psychedelic guitar abstraction of the shoe gaze crowd of My Bloody Valentine, Ride and all that, but muscle and proper song structures. As an album this is about as sensible and cohesive as Boris are ever going to be. There is lots of variation even a ballad in ' You were holding an umbrella' but it's the buzzing thrashy rushes that we're really liking on ' My Neighbour satan' and 'Buzz-in.' heavy like a death in the family maan...
