Utilising the sampled immortal voice of Eartha Kitt as its raison d’être, serial label-hopping producer M. Quake — formerly of F ingers, Th Duo and Tarcar (Blackest Ever Black) — lands on London imprint Purely Physical Teeny Tapes for a dubbed out minimal meditation on love and relationships — released just in time for Valentines Day. ‘Fall in Love With Yourself’ is a credo of self-love, at once defiant and tender, soaked in foggy electronics and spaced-out atmospheres. Side A takes a segment of Kitt’s catty interview, metered out into maniacal territory across an off-kilter rhythm, while side B’s classic style dub brings the original track’s shimmering synths to the fore. Highly recommended.
