Rephlex records' alumnus, Todd Osborn aka Soundmurderer and Osborne, is back - and what a righteous return! 'Ruling EP' is four cuts of vintage style house that you could have expected to hear on Fourth Floor, Nu Groove, or any other Brooklyn based record label back in 1990.
The title track 'Ruling' is a breathy vocal-lead tune that drifts over Rheji Burrell style, deep house keys and vintage 909 drum sequences. '16th Stage' and 'Fresh' follow, and both tracks are respectful homages to the halcyon days of house...
However the best is saved until last, the track 'Downtown' is a huge old skool style techno anthem with the most infectious piano riff playing throughout! Close your eyes, and take yourself back to that moment you first heard 'Strings Of Life' or even Soft House Company's 'What You Need'. Osborne rules!
