Incredible collection of recordings of music that's played specifically in the Southern Laos region, featuring string instruments made of bamboo, bamboo, gongs and cymbals to create an unusual and exciting sound.
The recordings are basically a compilation of sessions recorded going village to village visiting displaced communities and traditional villages, recorded at speed often with an invitation to drink the local fermented rice alcohol drink.
There are detailed descriptions of events background and circumstances of the music recorded in these sessions on this CD in the notes, along with some images captured from the sessions.
