Ripley Johnson from Moon Duo and Wooden Shjips adds to his expanded universe of psychedelic rock with Rose City Band’s self-titled debut — now with the added earnestness of rootin’ tootin’, no nonsense country twang. While Rose City Band exchanges Johnson’s patented heavy psych stomp for an earthier, CSNY-flavoured tone, there’s still plenty of opportunities to spin out on that good old-fashioned mesmeric never-ending chug.
