Texan bad-boy Cygnus has previously released on labels including Central Processing Unit, Breakin’ Records and Fundamental. As such, the Cygnus sound feels like a good fit for Craigie Knowes. On Connection Error we find Cygnus serving up electro, IDM and leftfield techno with that same typically Texan grit that we find in the output of Textasy and Convextion. Cuts like ‘Votoms’ and ‘My Secret Data’ break down the door to the club, their fizzing bass and clattering 808s coming off like Jensen Interceptor at his nastiest. Cygnus also shows his range on ‘Metroid C64’, a lurching lo-fi beat that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Modeselektor album.
