Never ones to do things by half measures, the Flaming Lips went all out when, in 2016, they performed their classic 1999 LP The Soft Bulletin in full at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Being backed up by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and a 56-person-strong choir - both of whom were conducted by Andre De Ridder - allowed the band to elevate already bombastic songs such as ‘Race For The Prize’ to new heights. Many have compared The Soft Bulletin to orchestral pop classics like the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, but Live At Red Rocks makes that link unmissable.
