Fledgling label Control Freak Recordings drop their second record, and it’s a real varied one. Guava tries his hand at quite an array of styles across the four tracks of Lift. The opening title-track, a fusion of dub-techno, Bristolian soundsystem techno and some sort of head-spun synth lead, signposts that this is a record full of ideas. The resulting cuts, which range from the pinging, Classical Curves-esque ‘Can’t Catch Me’ to the cerebral ambience of closer ‘Alt-Love’, confirms these suspicions.
