Those of you who have been following De:tuned’s birthday series will have noticed that each new release has brought more high-quality club fare. However, DE:10.10, the EP that rounds out De:tuned’s anniversary run, might just be the pick of the bunch.

First up we find Plaid muscling in on a remix of Humanoid’s ‘sT8818r’, the track which opened the DE:10.08 EP. You might have expected the Warp trio to round out the edges of Humanoid’s acidic original, but in fact Plaid actually tighten the screws here, doubling-down on ‘sT8818r’s squelching electro energy.

Some of you may recognise Erik Van Den Broek’s ‘Primerose’ - the track originally featured in De:tuned’s fifth anniversary boxset. An alternate mix of ‘Primerose’ appears here, the tune’s keening synths and astral Detroit keys maintained but its unusual percussive tones leaned on slightly harder.

Flip DE:10.10 over and you’ll find B12’s Steven Rutter delivering a typically propulsive piece of cosmic electro in the form of ‘Formulate’. The pick of the bunch might be closer ‘Dream Ache’ by Lone, a maximalist club take that we have been waiting for a vinyl pressing of ever since it featured in Rustie’s landmark BBC Radio One Essential Mix way back in 2012.

Finished with a silver foil sleeve designed by DJ Food as a variation on the artwork for volumes 1-9, DE:10.10 finishes off De:tuned Records’ birthday EP run with a bang.
