Coppe’’s Na Na Me Na Opera is a bountiful and rich work full of untapped significance. Conceived and recorded by “the Godmother of Japanese electronica” upon the tragic loss of her mother, Na Na Me Na Opera is likewise haunted by many other spirits; there’s Klaus Nomi and Henry Purcell on the strikingly thunderous drone of ‘Cold Song’. Despite a prolific 24 year career, nothing in the Coppe’ canon quite sounds like this.
