Even outsider music’s OG weirdo had to start somewhere; lo and behold Moondog’s On The Streets Of New York, a collection of early recordings lifted straight from his busking days between 1954 and 1962. Recorded by Moondog’s earliest champion Tony Schwartz on NYC street corners and rooftops (when not in Schwartz’s studio), On The Streets Of New York is a striking document of an artist finding his feet, and discovering they were right on the ends of his legs all along.
