It goes without saying the Drexciya have a vast influence on the sound, aesthetic and outlook of club music. Gentrified Underground’s Bubble Chamber compilation celebrates the Drexciyan school with a dozen cuts that draw from the work of Gerald Donald and James Stinson. The breadth of artists here is vast - contemporary practitioners such as The Exaltics and Plant43 sit alongside old heads like Tom Ware, whose contribution ‘Take Time To Hurry’ originally surfaced in the 80s. Whenever these tracks were made, their burbling synths, needle-gun basslines and driving 808s demonstrate that Drexcyia’s legacy is in good hands.
