Ever in demand, this is a classic joint from the original dons Underground Resistance. Back in the 90s this Detroit crew ripped it all up and started again with their uncompromising vision of second-wave club tracks. Sitting in between more high octane records like Fury and Piranha, 1992’s World 2 World EP is one of their most utopian visions, a selection of deep deep house for the new age of dance music that UR helped usher in.

Glistening birdsong and synths combine on ‘Amazon’, sombre strings adding an adventurous, wide pan of the landscape feel before being broken by coursing rhythms. While the opener of the EP is militaristic and effervescent techno, the other three tracks here take the form of glorious, deft, and stargazing deep house tunes. ‘Jupiter Jazz’ whistles with joyful piano chords and otherworldly stutters, and ‘Cosmic Traveller’ is smooth and peaceful with trickling water and chimes, suddenly stripped back to the beat to reveal the bustling layers of drums at work. ‘Greater Than Yourself’ meanwhile slows down to a gentler pace, with whispers and chants flowing through the background.

Crucial documents of another time and another place, its records like World 2 World that would go on to inspire a generation.
