Producer Michael Fakesch, one half of pioneering German ‘glitch-hop’ duo Funkstörung, first struck out alone with his short-circuited solo debut Marion, and much has since been made of its quietly influential sound. It’s hard not to hear later Aphex Twin and Autechre here, albeit mish-mashed with chopped up live percussion to ground the glitch hi-jinks. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, UK electronic label Bit-Phalanx Music rerelease this gem on two cassettes, packed with remixes and rarities.
