Bleep

On his new LP Dissolution, Finnish artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi comes through with a set of idiosyncratic synth-pop jams. Some of the tracks here touch on dance styles - house, Detroit techno, Italo - without ever comfortably inhabiting those spaces. Instead Kalevi freaks whatever style he wishes in his own way, bending these songs into quirky and likeable new shapes. Metronomy, Ariel Pink and Todd Terje all spring to mind, but ultimately Dissolution is its own thing.
