Yellow Electric (run by Liz Harris) reissue an expanded edition of New Zealand guitar pioneer Roy Montgomery’s seldom-seen, oft-cited full-length debut. Originally released in 1995 by short-lived west coast label Drunken Fish, Scenes From The South Island is a crystallisation of the solo guitar avant-garde to date; it recalls the post-rock of Gastr Del Sol and the wilderness era John Fahey, whilst also premonitioning the rise of Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky.
