Alva Noto and Anne-James Chaton turn in a record of curious beat tracks, avant-garde excursions and abstract spoken word. The recent releases of Radiante Pourpre are recalled by Alphabet’s more terse moments, while the stark poetry of entries like ‘QUELLIE PARTIE!’ is very much in the Throbbing Gristle lineage. There’s also a little Hype Williams to the frosty, impassive electronics of a cut such as ‘LU-NO’. Alphabet is a strangely beguiling listen.
