Function’s new LP Existenz is an ambitious and varied effort from the Sandwell District mainstay (releasing here via Tresor). Across four vinyl we find the one born David Sumner simultaneously doubling down on his visceral techno style and also abstracting it to strange new ends. There are plenty of dubbed-out mid-set rollers here - some quick, some slow - but also several adventures in dark ambient. Stefanie Parnow and Robert Owens (twice) provide Existenz with its guest features.
