On the Monotomic LP we find the LA beatmaker putting his own spin on several Afrofuturist styles - not just that of Ras G (RIP), Flying Lotus and others from his city’s own beat scene, but also farther-flung practitioners such as Afrikan Sciences and Shabazz Palaces. Working from a core of ultra-leftfield and spiritual hip-hop, Monotomic also touches on machine-funk, jazz, neo-soul, trap and much more besides.
