If there’s a crown prince of the Lisboan people’s republic of ghettotech and footwork, DJ Nigga Fox is surely the chosen one. Cartas Na Manga builds on Fox’s empire after the establishing groundwork of Crânio, Noite E Dia and O Men Estilo, culminating in what is surely his most astute artistic (and longest) manifesto to date. Clattering acoustic percussion are spliced and spilled across the place in neatly managed chaos on the likes of ‘Sub Zero’ and ‘Talanzele’, and soft rock synths transform into jagged dance numbers on ‘Agua Morna’ and ‘5 Violinos’. Suffice to say, this thing is baller.
