New taster for the forthcoming Matthew Dear album 'Asa Breed'. On 'Deserter' Dear improves his lyrics by upping the self doubt and produces a full-on pop song that sounds like a technofied update of Joy Division's haunted dourness. He gives the singing a rest for 'You Know What I Would Do' and opts for an emo/techno hybrid. Four Tet rounds things off nicely with a remix of 'Deserter' that adds some rhythmic play and dream pop colour to the original.
