Part of the strange wave of New York bands who are pushing things forward into interesting territory, from Grizzly Bear all the way through Animal Collective, Gang Gang Dance, Telepathe and other great music we stock, Excepter are a kind of primordial dance act, loosely sounding like a cross between Throbbing Gristle and Chicago House, mixed down with this scene's love for on the spot experimentation, dissonance and improvisation. The standout, also one of the most poppy moments is the track 'Rockstepper', which sounds like Happy Mondays in a quantum alternative reality.
