RISING is an apt title for this new EP from Greentea Peng. The London singer-songwriter really is on the up at the moment, with her soulful, modern take on R ‘n’ B has turned the heads of many - Vivienne Westwood, for instance, is known to be a fan. Rooted in hip-hop and neo-soul, there is an organic feel to RISING that also nods to new-age music and spiritualism in a manner reminiscent of Lauryn Hill. Teebs and Georgia Anne Muldrow also come to mind. The vinyl edition of RISING features Greentea Peng’s viral hit ‘Downers’ as a bonus beat.
