Even Tuell - the joke never wears thin - returns to Workshop six years after his Midnightopera collaboration and a full decade on from his last solo EP for the label. Workshop 27 is a typically idiosyncratic set of productions from Paul David Rollmann, one that skirts the edges of house’s leftfield. The dinky ‘Rise March Mellow’ recalls Farben and There Is Love In You-era Four Tet while ‘Highway Daydreams’ has something of Truncate about it. Most intriguing of all is the beat-free ‘Domingo Nap’, a track that reminds us of the most private and tender end of Arthur Russell’s discography.
