F-on and Urtzi issue the first segment of their Downbeat Black Label 04 release via their imprint of the same name. Part 1 (A/B) is a moody set of drone-techno, one that draws equally from the likes of Prurient, JK Flesh and Basic Channel. A-side ‘Missing’ is somewhat more obtuse than its B-side reworking - while the former shuffles around a combination of field recordings, wheezing synths and the ghost of a beat, the latter coheres them all into something with a little more forward motion. Both are hugely evocative.
