Avenue 66 deliver an album of hypnagogic tech-house in the form of Relaxer’s Coconut Grove. There’s plenty of Balearia here to back up the tropical imagery Relaxer used in naming this album - tracks like ‘Serpent In The Garden’ and ‘Cold Green’ deliver the sort of grooves we associate with labels such as Safe Trip and Second Circle, albeit with an ever-so-slight air of menace. Indeed, this uneasy feeling becomes more prominent as the album goes on - ‘Um’ is full of eerie chords while ‘Agony’ pares back the beats for something more atmospheric and dubwise.
