After releasing a handful of LPs through Raske Plader, Bremer/McCoy have made the move to Luaka Bop for the release of their new album Utopia. Across this record the Danish jazz duo create hushed, elegant, nocturnal-sounding vignettes largely from piano and double-bass. Cuts like ‘Salme’ show off a post-minimalist keyboard style that nods to Ryuichi Sakamoto, while the incorporation of massed strings across the record provides Utopia with an almost spiritual quality. A lovely record.
