P.P. Roy’s debut 2000 LP You Can’t Help Liking is a Rephlex classic and one of the many highlights from their flawless back catalogue. The release bundles expertly produced, rolling breakbeats with jazzy touches and quirky sound bytes; leading off with the vintage voice collage of ‘Introduction’ followed by the addictive ‘In At The Bleep End’ which really personifies the Rephlex spirit. From here things move from the lounge-style ‘Like, Wow’ and ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’ to sun-soaked downtempo on ‘Keep Telling Me What To Do’ to epic, string-laden hip-hop instrumental on ‘Theme From Ezpz’. Highly recommended for fans of The Avalanches or DJ Yoda’s How To Cut And Paste series.
