Bristol’s Bokeh Version ditch their squeaky clean facade for some dishwater harsh noise straight from the gutter. Bad Tracking is what happens when a city’s musical legacy — trip hop, dub, punk — goes sour, and Widower EP is nothing if not a rotting bowl of fruit. The inner sleeve shows a fully nude individual mid-performance, holding a microphone steadfast towards a speaker; this should give you some idea of what’s store. Bad Tracking move over to the excellent Bokeh Versions, bringing their agonised sound with them. While previous Bokeh drops have focussed on dubwise tones, the Widower EP is as mucky and murky as they come. This is industrial music that screeches and writhes, recalling the early days of Posh Isolation as well as Merzbow and Bad Tracking’s previous home of FuckPunk Records. There’s even a bit of Thou to the hellish screaming on opener ‘Eriksson’.
