You may have come across Murray Collier’s work as Grim Lusk or Dip Friso, but on this new Sacred Summits joint he’s firmly in Sunny Balm mode. Eucalypt was begun in Glasgow but finished in Mandurah (Manjoogoordap), Western Australia, a relocation that inspires the naturality and organic feel of the record. Collier blends recordings of instruments like balafon and agogo as well using tape manipulation and looping to create a heady, fourth-world listening experience. Think mid-period Animal Collective (at their best).
