Luke Slater dons his Planetary Assault Systems hat once again for another EP of hypnotic and unrelenting techno tools. Road-tested in his sets at Berghain (where Slater is a resident DJ), the tracks of Plantae follow in the vein of Slater’s recent Planetary Assault Systems releases like the Straight Shooting EP. Over unrelenting kicks and needling hi-hats, Slater daubs delay-drenched loops - discordant synths, chanted vocal snippets, tuned electronic drums - to create the kind of psychedelic club textures that only Planetary Assault Systems releases can deliver. Fittingly for a body of tracks that are so wedded to Berghain, the Plantae EP is out via Ostgut Ton.
