Both of the originals from Epsilove on new EP Psychic Venom are slow and slinky, ushering the listener into a kind of uncanny electro dreamstate. There is a hyperreal quality to ‘Time Is The Longest Distance’ and ‘Sea Snakes’ that is amplified by Epsilove’s desire to play with tempo and shroud vocals deep in the mix. It’s disorientating yet strangely hypnotic, almost Lynchian. Remixes from the pairings Ali Bobo & Shelter/HAJJ & Lastrack move the originals towards Rephlex-esque IDM.
