Demonstrating their fearless genre agnosticism, Swiss label Bongo Joe come out with a bananas production from Geneva. Amani’s debut release Giant swaggers between many swaggering styles: you’ve got dancehall madness, afrobeat agitation, dub echo, and more than a hint of grimy and glorious reggaeton. That said, it’s hard to hear little more than a drum machine across this EP, pushed to its absolute breaking point in accompaniment to Gabriel Ghebrezghi’s manic vocal gymnastics.
