Fenella’s eponymous album finds Jane Weaver leading a new band and reimagining the score for Marcell Jankovics’ 1981 animation Fehérlófia. Along with Peter Philipson and Raz Ullah, Weaver creates a set of neo-kosmische compositions that work excellently with Fehérlófia’s folksy ultra-psychedelica. The more song-based efforts here (‘Bright Curse’, for instance) occupy a similar space to Carmen Villain’s recent work, while Fenella’s abstract textures echo the output of the Emotional Response imprint.
