After releases on labels including Natural Science and Prehistoric Silence, Holy Similaun now debuts on OOH-Sounds (OOH = Over Our Heads, by the way) with Hegenrax. On this EP the producer born Alberto Bertelli delivers a set of tracks that either stand right on the edge of techno’s leftfield or take the next step into deconstructionism. The ones with a little more dancefloor impetus - ‘Apeous’, for instance - bring to mind recent curios released by Metrist, rRoxymore and Xyn Cabal. When beats take a backseat, as they do on Hegenrax’s closer ‘R-E-S’, Holy Similaun’s work comes to resemble Holly Herndon and Ziur.
