ELWD returns to Bad Taste Records with the Collectables cassette. This is one of the most inventive beat-tapes we’ve heard in a while. Head-nodding leftfield hip-hop instrumentals full of warm samples and hefty bass are the core style here. ELWD isn’t afraid to swing his tracks to an unconventional degree - the skittering ‘PATTERNS’, for instance, is a pillowy reverie of barely-there drums. A lovely listen and one that reminds us of Wilma Archer’s beats for the recent Wilma Vritra LP Burd (also Bad Taste Recs).
