France-based Briton Derailleur (Lee Graves) kicks off his Decade Box imprint with the Hydraulic Performer EP. The EP’s title-track is electro that snaps at your heels, a juddering bassline and some precision-engineered drums brought together by vocoder-drenched vocals. ‘Device One’, the other Derailleur original here, sticks to a more reserved house groove while serving similarly dystopian synth work. The Exaltics are brought to mind by both. Between ‘Hydraulic Performer’ and ‘Device One’ we get Radioactive Man’s ‘Pulse X’-aping take on the former.
