While Sunggun Jang has been making music for well over a decade now Disfiguring Echos is the Korean artist’s first full-length record. This collection is a set of abrasive, often slightly melancholy drones that also draw on the worlds of musique concrete, post-minimalist composition and noise. There’s a little Prurient to Disfiguring Echos’ more brooding cuts while the way haunting pianos are incorporated on closer ‘Figure 6’ nods to Michael Nyman.
