Finally back on DFA with added gusto, Panagiotis Melidis — that’s Larry Gus to you — returns with the rousing dance-post-punk of Subservient. Sung in both Greek and English, this LP is about the conundrum of enacting empathy in the belligerent 21st century, about reaching a hand while the world is ablaze. Larry Gus opts for small changes on the everyday scale, not least through the gently lilting ‘Ayler the Pilot’ and the straight-up swagger of ‘Readers & Authors’.
