New York producer Hiro Kone AKA Nicky Mao releases her third full length LP on Dais Records (Coil, Xeno & Oaklander, Hide, Drab Majesty etc). Using modular synthesis, noise, field recordings and her once abandoned violin training; Mao embarks on a journey of self analysis and discovery with eyes set firmly in the future.

In her own words “This album considers the power of absence as neither a lack or deficit, but as a quiet, indeterminable force to cultivate in this time of looming and unrelenting techno-fascism. It asks that we take pause to consider our learned languages and actualities and to better consider how desire shapes our recollections and interpretations of this ‘existence.’” Studying the aspect of absence within electronic music - this album displays a unique dynamic tension and flow. Tracks such as Fabrication Of Silence and A Fossil Begins To Bray progress with urgency despite the masterful restraint from drums in the majority of the tracks.

Similarities can be drawn from artists such as Shapednoise, Roly Porter, Justin K. Broadrick, the blinding recent LP from Merzbow with Vanity Productions on Ideal, Drew McDowall's recent work also on Dais as well as Kris Lapke (Alberich) who has mixed and mastered this record.

A Fossil Begins To Bray is a calculated contrast to many predictable contracts imposed by the genre’s stereotypes.
