The avant-gardeners at Black Truffle serve up yet more experimental goodness in the form of Julia Reidy’s In Real Life. An Australian guitarist/composer who has previously released on Slip, Reidy’s two lengthy entries here offset the brightness of Laraaji with the busy-body textures and passages of discordance or noise. Influences from new age, drone, ambient composition and musique concrete are all detectable without In Real Life comfortably fitting into any of these categories. An arresting listen.
