Jeremiah R. comes through with a cracking set of machine funk on Tales From The Dark Reef. By and large this collection is an eerie set of club grooves dredged up from the ocean floor. Tracks like ‘Octopus’ and ‘Exploring Depths’ recall Legowelt and The Hacker in the way their chattering basslines buzz around a smorgasbord of 808s. Elsewhere on Tales From The Dark Reef there is a more cerebral vibe to ‘Axolotl’s Journey’ that borders on Balearic house.
