Tasha’s Neighbourhood drops the first instalment of their new compilation series The Hive. Much like the Neighbourhood parties, The Hive: Volume 1 showcases artists who span the length and breadth of the UK’s current techno crop. The resulting record is a set of club tracks of varying heaviness. Some producers go for the jugular (Reflec’s pummelling ‘Caves’ being just one example) while others take a more psychedelic tack - see Paleman’s spiralling ‘Reso Clay’. Unsurprisingly there is also a strong UK bass influence to a few of the cuts here, from dBridge’s ‘Austin Arb-6’ that opens The Hive: Volume 1 to the Roberto & Yelhsa track which closes it (Yelhsa is a new Skeptical alias, by the way).
