Teklife central figure and Chicago footwork pioneer DJ Spinn returns to the mix with — what else? — a tough as nails, funky as Hell assortment of footwork brilliance. Anyone familiar with his work alongside former musical partner DJ Rashad already knows the score; Spinn seems capable of finding a beat in anything, and the more obtuse the better. On Da Life EP we’ve got slow jam sensuality amped up to 11, hip hop swagger turned cartoonishly fast, and as always, G-Funk grooves as discombobulating as they are inexplicably danceable.
